On Sunday 25th November 2018, 6 members of the Oshwal community of Perth went for a hike on the Christmas Tree Creek walk trail at the John Forrest National park. We met in the main picnic area car park at the agreed time of 7.30 am where after some introductions, and arming ourselves with defenses against the twin dangers and nuisances of the expected hot sun and the sticky flies, we set out to explore the trail.

This was a very rewarding hike which took us through different types of vegetation, had several steep and slippery sections to make it interesting and offered spectacular views of the city of Perth and its surrounding areas. Other highlights were a couple of very close encounters with kangaroos and several sightings of the abundant birdlife.

After completing the hike, we had some delicious pastries and handvo while seated on one of the numerous picnic tables and benches around the main picnic area. The facilities in the park are quite impressive. Thanks to everyone for their time and effort in preparing the food.

The next hike is tentatively planned for May 2019 when the hot weather has subsided.
